Today’s Bible verse:
Luke 6:35
35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Pray with us:
Heavenly Father, When we read these words Lord, we should be as troubled as those who first heard them. We admit that we have trouble at times loving those closest to our hearts, but how can we love - even get along with - those that we dislike? We must confess that we have listened and engaged in gossip about such "enemies" and have enjoyed witnessing their public failings. We've callously expressed our displeasure for such people and explained it away as righteous indignation. Father help us to understand those with whom we disagree and dislike. Make us to see that we have both been designed by Your hands and in Your image. Guide us to spend more time examining our own hearts, so we would see our failings. It is only through Your grace and forgiveness can we hope to be changed so let us return that blessing to others. As You are our Powerful Mediator, let us be mediators for others so that Your glory may be witness. Amen
